Now entering the 11th year, the Syrian refugee crisis remains one of the largest humanitarian crises that has ever occurred. Approximately 5.6 million are refugees, 6.1 million are displaced within Syria, 11.1 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance and about half of those who are affected are children since the civil war began on March 15th, 2011. Many homes, schools, businesses, healthcare centers, hospitals, utilities, and water sanitation systems have been destroyed leaving little to no resource to use for daily life. On top of all this, COVID-19 has heavily impacted many families and has driven many refugee families into poverty with an already limited supply of resources.
Our brothers and sisters in Syria and in the refugee camps are suffering and it is up to us to hold their burdens close to our hearts this Ramadan and make a difference! There is a powerful quote that was once said by Imam Al-Tirmidhi: "Giving charity without delay stands in the way of calamity". To have the power to change someone's life positively is something so soul-fulfilling to be able to know that your donation can be the catalyst to a better future and pathway to the reduction of calamity. In times of vulnerability, we need to stand united no matter what religion, ethnicity, gender, or skin color to aid those who are in need!
The funds that are raised will be used to :
- Distribute vital food aid to families suffering from hunger
- Provide small grants and training to help individuals build livelihoods
- Implement psychosocial programs to bring much-needed relief to trauma survivors
- Medical Aid
- Hygiene Kits
- Educational Development
- Women Empowerment Programs
